Elena Passarello is the author of two essay collections, Let Me Clear My Throat and Animals Strike Curious Poses, both published by Sarabande Books. Her essays have recently appeared in Virginia Quarterly Review, Oxford American, Iowa Review, Slate, and the anthologies After Montaigne and Cat is Art Spelled Wrong. A graduate of the University of Iowa’s Nonfiction Writing Program, she now teaches at Oregon State University and co-edits West Virginia University Press’s In Place series. Passarello received the Whiting Award for Nonfiction in 2015.
