Announcement of New Hires

We are pleased to announce two new staff members who will be joining us at Speculative Nonfiction, joining Founding Editors, Leila Philip and Robin Hemley, and Senior Editor, Sonya Bilocerkowycz.  Emily Dillon, who comes from editing with Brevity: A Journal of Literary Nonfiction, will be our new Managing Editor.  Phil Lemos, who comes from editing with Spry Literary Journal will be our new Associate Managing Editor.  

 

Essay from Speculative Nonfiction Featured in Assay

IInara Verzemnieks’ essay “What We Have Lost Because We Did Not Know to Ask” from Speculative Nonfiction Issue 1 was featured in Tessa Fontaine’s craft essay “The Limits of Perception: Trust Techniques in Nonfiction” with Assay: A Journal of Nonfiction Studies. The essay is featured as the fourth technique: “Inhabiting Another Point of View.”

 

Issue 1 Featured As “Best of the Net”

Our first issue, Beyond Truth vs. Fiction, was featured as “The Best Of The Net” by Woven Tale Press in a review by DeWitt Henry. He says, “This startup promises to become a prominent addition to the creative nonfiction field.”

 

Speculative Nonfiction Launch

Our first issue, Beyond Truth vs. Fiction, was launched at NonfictioNOW 2018 in Phoenix, Arizona. The night included lots of great conversation about the magazine, the concept, and the first issue. It was good to get some of the Advisory Board and Contributing Editors together for a celebratory dinner!
